Sex Crimes
Regardless of your reputation, sex offense charges can result in a serious stigma that can follow you for decades. With a conviction, you can also face heavy fines and incarceration. There is no question Oregon and Washington is serious about sex-related crimes. If convicted you will be required to report to law enforcement and register as a sex offender.
In Oregon, the registration will be for life and without the ability to petition the court for relief from registration for a minimum of ten years. In Washington, the registration required is controlled by your conviction. If convicted of a Class A then registration is for life; Class B then registration is for 15 years; and Class C registration is for 10 years.
